Terms & Conditions – House Rescue

  1. Introduction

These Terms & Conditions apply to all services provided by House Rescue to domestic and commercial customers.

By accepting a quotation, estimate, or booking our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.

  1. Scope of Works

All works will be outlined in the estimate or quotation provided.

The scope is based on our initial assessment and visible conditions at the time. Any works not specifically included are excluded and may incur additional charges.

  1. Estimates & Quotations

All estimates are provided as a guide based on the information available at the time.

An estimate is not an invoice; however, it becomes a binding contract upon acceptance.

Due to the nature of electrical work, unforeseen issues may arise. Where additional work is required, we will inform the customer and agree any additional costs before proceeding.

  1. Variations & Additional Works

If additional works are required due to:

  • Hidden faults
  • Non-compliant or unsafe installations
  • Changes requested by the customer

We will:

  • Notify you as soon as reasonably possible
  • Provide a revised cost
  • Obtain approval before continuing
  1. Pricing

5.1 Fixed Price Works

Most works are carried out on a fixed quotation basis.

5.2 Hourly Rate Work

For fault finding or works where duration cannot be determined:

  • Hourly Rate: £82.50 + VAT
  • Minimum Charge: 1.5 hours
  • Time is charged in full-hour increments and rounded up

Any part hour worked will be charged as a full hour.

5.3 Emergency Call-Outs

  • Call-out fee: £75 + VAT
  • Plus hourly rate: £82.50 + VAT

5.4 VAT

All prices quoted exclude VAT unless otherwise stated. VAT will be added at the applicable rate.

  1. Deposits & Payment Terms
  • 50% deposit is required for most quoted works
  • The remaining balance is due upon completion unless otherwise agreed

For larger or ongoing projects, we reserve the right to request stage payments, which will be agreed in advance.

Failure to make payment in accordance with agreed terms may result in suspension of works or withholding of certification.

  1. Late Payment

We operate a strict payment policy.

Payment is due in accordance with the terms stated on the quotation or invoice. Failure to make payment may result in:

  • Suspension of ongoing works
  • Withholding of certification (including EICRs and installation certificates)
  • Referral of the outstanding balance to a third-party debt recovery agency

Where an account becomes overdue, we reserve the right to recover any reasonable costs incurred in the collection of the debt, including but not limited to administrative costs, legal fees, and third-party recovery charges, to the extent permitted by law.

For commercial customers, we also reserve the right to charge interest and statutory compensation in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

For domestic customers, we reserve the right to charge interest on overdue balances at a rate of up to 8% above the Bank of England base rate where permitted by law and where reasonable notice has been given.

  1. Cancellation Policy
  • Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment will incur a charge equivalent to the minimum 1.5-hour rate
  • Cancellation of full-day or larger booked works may be charged at up to 50% of the estimated value

This reflects loss of time, labour, and scheduling commitments.

  1. Consumer Cancellation Rights (Domestic Customers)

Where applicable under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, domestic customers have the right to cancel their contract within 14 days of acceptance.

However, by requesting that works begin within the 14-day cancellation period, the customer expressly agrees that:

  • Work may commence before the cancellation period ends
  • Reasonable charges will apply for any work completed, time spent, materials ordered, or services provided up to the point of cancellation
  • Once works have been fully completed, the right to cancel may no longer apply

Cancellation requests must be provided in writing.

  1. Access & Customer Responsibilities

The customer is responsible for:

  • Providing safe and reasonable access to the work area
  • Ensuring the working environment is safe
  • Removing or protecting personal belongings

Delays or additional costs caused by restricted access or unsafe conditions may be chargeable.

  1. Health & Safety

All work is carried out in accordance with:

  • BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations)
  • Relevant UK health and safety legislation

We reserve the right to refuse or stop work immediately if conditions are deemed unsafe.

  1. Existing Installations

We are not responsible for faults in existing electrical installations unless specifically contracted to investigate or repair them.

Where unsafe or non-compliant conditions are identified, we will inform the customer and may recommend remedial work.

  1. Materials & Equipment
  • Materials supplied remain our property until paid for in full
  • We typically supply materials but may install customer-provided items at our discretion
  • We are not responsible for faults or failures in customer-supplied materials
  1. Making Good

Electrical works may require lifting floors, cutting access, or chasing walls.

Unless explicitly stated:

  • Making good (including plastering, decorating, flooring, or cosmetic repairs) is not included
  • This remains the responsibility of the customer
  1. Timeframes

Any timeframes provided are estimates only.

Delays may occur due to:

  • Site conditions
  • Hidden faults
  • Material availability
  • External factors beyond our control

We will communicate any delays where possible.

  1. Certification

Relevant certification (including EICRs and Electrical Installation Certificates) will be issued upon:

  • Completion of works
  • Receipt of full payment
  1. Warranty

We provide a 12-month workmanship guarantee, subject to:

  • No third-party interference
  • Proper use of the installation

Manufacturer warranties apply separately where applicable.

  1. Limitation of Liability

We shall not be liable for:

  • Pre-existing faults or defects
  • Indirect or consequential losses
  • Delays caused by factors outside our control

Nothing within these Terms & Conditions limits liability where such limitation is prohibited by law.

  1. Acceptance

Acceptance of any quotation, estimate, or booking (written, verbal, or electronic) constitutes acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.

  1. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
